چکیده

Background The prevalence of left ventricular non-compaction is not well established. Using 2-D echocardiography, less than 1% of patients are diagnosed with this entity. Using cardiac MRI, approximately 3% of patients have evidence of LV non-compaction. This variance may be related to the difference in spatial resolution between these 2 imaging techniques. Using a large institutional cardiac imaging database, 2-D echo and cardiac MRI results were compared in patients with LV non-compaction.

Comparison of systolic and diastolic criteria for isolated left ventricular noncompaction in cardiac MRI

Background Interest in left ventricular non-compaction (LVNC) as a distinct clinical form of cardiomyopathy is supported by recent publications. Echocardiographic and select cardiac MRI criteria have been established which are used to facilitate the diagnosis and have led to concerns of diagnostic accuracy. We used cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (cMRI) to assess standard criteria for LVNC.

Cardiac MRI in a Patient with Coincident Left Ventricular Non-Compaction and Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy

Left ventricular non-compaction cardiomyopathy is a rare congenital cardiomyopathy that affects both children and adults. Since the clinical manifestations are not sufficient to establish diagnosis, echocardiography is the diagnostic tool that makes it possible to document ventricular non-compaction and establish prognostic factors. We report a 47-year-old woman with a history of dilated cardio...

Right Ventricular Non-Compaction Cardiomyopathy in Children: Brief Review Literature

Right ventricular non-compaction cardiomyopathy (RVNC) is a genetic heterogeneous cardiomyopathy. Despite the increasing number of RVNC cases, the classification and natural history of this disorder are not completely clear. Also, because the pathogenic non-compaction cannot be easily differentiated from normal trabeculations, it is usually hard to accurately measure the prevalence of RV ...

Assessment of Organ Specific Iron Overload in Transfusion-dependent Thalassemia by Magnetic Resonance Imaging Techniques

The consequence of repeated blood transfusions in thalassemia is iron overload in different organs. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a reliable, non-invasive and accurate method for iron detection in various tissues, hence the introduction of MRI has revolutionized the management of these patients and improved the life expectancy of them. Cardiac MRI T2* has a profound effect not only on est...
